Depends what kind of music you like and what kind of music you enjoy playing and good sound you want. For me, I play a lot of hard metal music. As a great sound, so buying large plates. My biggest is 20 inches crash Sabian AAX Dark Crash and use a 22 "Sabian HH Chinese. If you started playing drums, I recommend a base path of 20 inches, about 14 inches, hi-hats, and perhaps an accident of 18 inches. If you like the sound of a trash china, take a Wuhan 12 inches. They look good inverted upside down and an extremely low price. I been playing drums for a while and I have developed my team according to my preferences. I have an accident less than 17 inches by 16 because it sounds too coward. Choose what you want to hear. If you want to get more dishes. If you like jazz and melodic sounds, become small dishes. It is certainly a kind of personal preference things.

Whats the price of an average ride cymbal and stand for a drum set?
Whats the price of an average ride cymbal and stand for a drum set? (Not sizzle)
Nothing fancy, just need one to add on so I can Jazz and Swing!
For a lower end but decent ride cymbal you can probably get it between $50 and $150. I have a zildjian zbt ride that cost me maybe 100 dollars. I recommend sticking with brand name cymbals like zildjian sabian or paiste rather than some cheaper unknown ones. And If you buy them used, on ebay or something, you can get some good deals.
Mediocre stands for the cymbals would run between $40 and $80
